Silvi joins partnership to develop AI solutions for Evidence Based Medicine

May 9, 2025

A new partnership will investigate how evidence can be generated utilizing AI without compromising scientific rigour.

Silvi is entering as a key partner along the Danish Medicine Council, top researchers from European universities and pharmaceutical industry partners. The Silvi literature-review tool will serve as the cornerstone of the project, providing the foundation for prototype development.

The first use case that will be tackled in the EVA partnership is how evidence synthesis can be speed up in the Danish Medicines Councils work with developing guidelines. In the second half of 2025 Silvi and DMC will work closely together to develop a tool that will utilize AI to help with screening and extraction of data from thousands of studies to have the data foundation for conducting network-meta analysis.

Systematic reviews bring together all available research to answer clinical questions. They are essential for evidence-based healthcare, ensuring patients receive treatments that are both safe and effective. But because of the huge volume of studies and the high standards required, systematic reviews take significant time and resources. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) could streamline this process — and that’s exactly what the EVA partnership will explore.

The EVA partnership will last two years and in this project Silvi will be collaborating closely with leading experts in AI and Evidence including Anders Søgaard, professor in AI and natural language processing at the University of Copenhagen, and Anton Pottegaard, professor in pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Southern Denmark.

The EVA partnership

The Evidence in an AI age (EVA) partnership is funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark and will last two years (2025-2027). In addition to Silvi and the Danish Medicines Council the partnership consists of research groups from University of Southern Denmark and Ghent University along the pharmaceutical companies Johnson & Johnson, Leo Pharma and KIOX Pharma.
