Data extraction is one of the most crucial parts of a systematic review.

While Silvi's AI feature can speed up the data extraction process, it still needs precise and specific prompts to give you the best results.

Here are a few tips on writing precise prompts to extract the most relevant data for your systematic review:

1. Let's say you would like to extract data regarding a new medical intervention in a set of studies.

Click on the "See all tags" button in the top-right corner. This will give you the tags menu.

In the title field, type in the kind of tag you want to create. For example, here we are creating a tag "New Intervention."

In "Description," specify precisely the kind of data you would like the AI to extract. For example, "Identify the description of the new medical intervention arm assessed in the study."

This will help the AI better understand your requirements and give you the exact data you need.

2. Silvi can help you extract specific data points too.

Suppose you want to extract the percentage of females from a set of

studies.

Create a tag and use "Gender(%)" as its title.

Then in description, you can specify, "Identify the percentages of females in the study."

3. Similarly, if you want to extract names of countries where a given study was conducted, you may want to use a prompt like the following:

"Identify and extract the countries where the study was conducted. Do not extract the countries of the affiliations of the authors."

This will help the AI locate the data in the full text and ensure that it doesn't give you countries where authors of a given study are based.

4. If you need help crafting or optimizing your prompts for data extraction, you can use a generative AI app.

Suppose, you want to extract registration ID's of several clinical studies. You can ask Mistral something like, "Write a prompt to identify the registation ID of a clinial study in a scientific article."
